Greetings from Clifton Park Baseball League. First of all, I hope that your 2007 baseball season was rewarding and successful. We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all the coaches and parents that dedicated so much time to the kids this past year.
We are very excited about all the things we accomplished as a league during 2007 season. We hope that you noticed a vast improvement in the fields at both the upper AND lower quads. Our goal is to continue to provide a premier, safe environment for the kids of Clifton Park to play baseball. Thanks to the support of the Town and the many league volunteers we totally renovated Field 14 and completed various upgrades to the other fields at the Upper Quad.
We are most excited about the long overdue upgrades to the LOWER QUAD fields. Thanks to the incredible support you provided through the Price Chopper raffle (where we raised over $12,000) we totally renovated Field 9 and repaired the fencing throughout the quad. Also, thanks to a donation from the World Series committee (which many of you supported), we are constructing permanent dugouts on fields 9 and 10 which will be ready for the 2008 season.
As mentioned above, ALL the proceeds from the Price Chopper raffle went directly to the improvement of our fields. Once the raffle is completed this year, we plan to use the money to upgrade the equipment for our kids and continue to resurface 1 field a year at the Lower Quad until all 4 are completed.
BIG NEWS! Concession changes! After much consideration and input from many of you, the league has made the decision to hire paid supervisors and counter help to run the concession stands during the 2008 season. This will allow all of you to be able to relax and enjoy watching your kids play baseball without worrying about coverage of the concession stand. We are happy to have been able to accomplish this with a minimal increase in registration fees. We hope to provide you with a better run, more dependable concession stand and a more enjoyable overall baseball experience in the year ahead. Obviously, we would love to get this rolling by employing CP Baseball kids in the concession stands this summer. If you have a teenager that is interested in earning some additional money by working in the concession stands, please email Sharon Pizzo at asmf323524@hotmail.com or Lori Munger at mmunger@nycap.rr.com
Our goal is to create a fun, supportive and instructional atmosphere for all our kids to become better baseball players and better individuals. We want to make sure that we provide the best possible experience whether the player is competing at the recreational, travel or all star level.
Obviously, to accomplish all our goals, we need volunteers. We are also always looking for individuals who are knowledgeable in landscape design, engineering, construction and fund raising.
This is your league. If you would like to volunteer or have any suggestions, comments or concerns, please go to our website www.cliftonparkbaseballleague.com and contact one of our board members. We also encourage everyone to attend our board meetings which are usually held the first Sunday of every month. The meeting dates and locations can also be found on our website.
Thanks again for being a part of Clifton Park Baseball and we’ll see you at the fields.
